Bar Pilar offers a taste of the season with its new blue crab dinners.
By Nevin Martell
Want to dig your claws into a summertime tradition? Bar Pilar’s steamed blue crab dinners bring a taste of the Bay to the District.
Guests get 10 of the Chesapeake crustaceans spiced up with cider vinegar and Old Bay seasoning, plus a mallet to make the meal manageable. The shellfish spread is served with a pair of ever-changing side dishes – such as corn on the cob, shrimp with mussels, cornbread, coleslaw and potato salad – and dessert. Beer isn’t included, but it’s worth the extra expenditure. Demonstrate your support of the Maryland food scene by complementing your crabfest with a few Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPAs.
The blue crab dinners are available beginning July 19, cost and serve two.
The restaurant doesn’t take reservations, but call 202-265-1751 ahead of time if you have a large party.
