A new hero of liquid food opens a soup ‘n’ salad store in Takoma Park.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, wait, no, it’s Soupergirl. For the past three years, this champion of fluid foods (known to mere mortals as Sara Polon) has operated a soup delivery and pick-up service in the District. Now she has opened an eatery in Takoma Park, where she will offer her signature soups, as well as salads and baked goods.
There’s a wide range of stews, gazpachos and minestrones available, all made with fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from local farmers. Highlights include Souperpapa’s Papa Al Pomodoro Soup with tomatoes, basil, garlic and olive oil, Harper Lee’s Quinoa Vegetable Soup with chunks of zucchini, red bell peppers, carrots, green beans, quinoa and basil and Jamaican Me Crazy Sweet Potato Soup with sweet potatoes, coconut milk, and dark rum. All the soups, salads and baked goods are vegan and certified kosher–absolutely none of them contain any kryptonite.
