This window-walled upstairs space gives diners the chance to sit down and enjoy a full service meal.

The smell of fresh baked bread and buttery pastry envelops you before you even step into the newly opened Paul Georgetown Bakery and Café. Inside the recently renovated space, cases full of baguettes and brioche, croissants and Croque Monsieurs all vie for your attention.

This is the second location for the French chain, which opened its first U.S. outlet in Penn Quarter earlier this year.

The French-focused menu boasts a variety of breads and desserts freshly baked daily, as well as hearty sandwiches, heartwarming soups and well composed salads.

However, if they have the time, they can enjoy a full service meal in the cozy upstairs dining room, which overlooks the bustling M Street and Wisconsin Avenue intersection.

For a sweet pick-me-up, we recommend getting a box of the bakery’s colorful mini-macarons, which come in six flavors: chocolate, coffee, vanilla, pistachio, raspberry and lemon.
