Ritz-Carlton’s Chocolate Decadence Buffet sweetens up the West End.
By Nevin Martell
Don’t worry if you didn’t find golden ticket in your last candy bar, because now anyone can travel to a chocolate lovers’ paradise. Every Saturday evening in December, executive pastry chef Daniel Mangione will transform The Lobby Café at the Ritz-Carlton, Washington, DC into Willy Wonka’s wonderland with his Chocolate Decadence Buffet.
Start off with a trifecta of hot chocolates hailing from Africa, Mexico and France.
If you’d prefer some bubbly, you can order a flight of champagne. With your whistle wetted, it’s time to dive into the all you can eat buffet, which includes a Swiss chocolate fountain, truffles, flan, chocolate peppermint Yule logs, brownie sundaes, panna cotta and much, much more.
This cacao-centric Shangri-la sounds like the kind of place where Charlie Bucket – or you – could get lost for a very, very long time.
The Chocolate Decadence Buffet happens on the first four Saturdays in December (3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th) from 8–11 p.
m. Reservations are required and the all you can eat buffet is $35 per person.
The Ritz-Carlton, 1150 22nd St.
NW, 202-835-0500.
