DC CHEW Market brings local food and chef demos to Ward 7.
By Nevin Martell
Get a head start on your upcoming New Year’s resolution to eat local more often. The DC CHEW (Community, Harvest, Education in Ward 7) Market is making its debut this December with two weekends worth of regional producers, chef demos, healthy eating seminars and entertainment.
A number of area merchants will be setting up stalls at the inaugural installment, including Tuckey’s Mountain Farm, Plum Good, Calvert Farm and Converge Coffee. Scott Drewno from The Source will also be on hand to give a cooking demonstration.
It might be hard to follow through on some of your resolutions – like going to the gym seven days a week or only eating brown rice for every meal – but DC CHEW should make eating local a breeze.
The first two Saturday markets happen on December 10th and 17th from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. The market will then close for the winter season and reopen in May of next year.
DC CHEW is located at the intersection of Good Hope Rd.
, Naylor Rd. and Alabama Ave. SE.
