Washington Nationals Park was the place to be Saturday night, to see servicemen and women walk the runway in the best of SS12 collections, for Luke’s Wings 4th Annual Fashion Takes Flight, presented by Kazi Investment Group.

Hosted by Kristen Murdock, Nichole Devolites, Charlotte Jarrett, Mackenzie Miles, Lindsay Kin and Fletcher Gill, 400 well-dressed guests sipped on signature cocktails by Van Gogh vodka and Peroni beer, noshed on ‘stadium’ hors d’oeuvres including mini burgers and dogs, pretzel bites and crab cakes, all while listening to the sounds of Deejay Neekola and even posing with famed Nationals Presidential mascot Teddy Roosevelt!

With Natasha Barrett, anchor for News Channel 7, as emcee for the evening, the show kicked off on a somber note, reminding all of us of the real reason we were there – to support those servicemen and women, as well as their families, in their road to recovery.  Soon after, the attendees were treated to collections by local designers Walish Gooshe, Donovan England,  high-end consignment retail store Ella Rue, new men’s retail store Streets of Georgetown and talented up-and-coming designer Nam Nguyen, modeled by both servicemen and women, as well as models from T.H.E. Artist Agency and current Miss DC, Ashley Boalch.

When the show concluded, servicemember Alan Babin and his mother Rosie were recognized for Babin’s incredible accomplishments during his time in service, to which the entire audience gave him a raucous standing ovation.
