What Waterloo?  Almost 200 years after the fall of France’s greatest little emperor, Napoleon Bistro & Lounge is working to keep the memory of Napoleon I alive and luxe. On February 16th, the Parisian restaurant celebrated five years in Adams Morgan. In recognition of a half-decade’s worth of ambassadorial services, bringing the cuisine of the Continent to the streets of the capital, Napoleon treated 200 District guests to hors d’oeuvres (naturally), and a special appearance by theatrical mimes. It was a celebration perfectly tailored to a tyrant’s tastes: lots of champagne and circumstance to keep everyone having a good time!

Also keeping the amount of bonheur at a level befitting a successful soiree: Napoleon’s new menu. Launched February 1st, the bistro’s revamped selections include a variety of petits plats (small plates), classic entrees, and a chef’s menu that changes on a daily basis.

He may have lost the war, but here’s to his namesake’s next 5 years… and more to come.
