The 137th running of the Preakness is just around the corner (this weekend as a matter of fact), and the excitement is building as race fans prepare to feel the thunder of hooves at Pimlico, leaving those without tickets fretting in the dust.

What better way to saddle up than with Thoroughbred-themed films to get you in the mood? AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center is offering up some of Hollywood’s best depictions of the races with its “Horses in Cinema” series. Though the mini-fest started last weekend, there’s still time to catch a couple cinematic greats this week through May 17, including “The Red Pony” and “Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken.”
