Most recently, Peterson Companies, real estate developers on a grand scale, have been linked with the renascence of National Harbor, with its numerous eateries, stores and MGM casino.
But the Petersons’ philanthropy was active long before that.
The Peterson Family Foundation was founded in 1997 and the Petersons have funded it with more than million.
The foundation’s list of more than 350 supported organizations, charities, and nonprofit groups includes more than $10 million for Inova’s Life with Cancer and Peterson Breast Center at Inova Loudoun Hospital, George Mason University, Middlebury College, the Udvar-Hazy Center National Air and Space Museum Annex at Dulles International Airport and, more recently, music therapy treatment at the University of California San Francisco Children’s Hospital.
