‘An Irish Carol’ production and Harry Bells concert will be hosted on December 22.
Just in time for the holidays, Dupont’s The Keegan Theatre will run its production of An Irish Carol by company member Matthew Keenan this weekend. A holiday tradition and an homage to Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, the comedic play follows pub owner David as he faces his past, present, and future on Christmas Eve.
The play’s early show at 7:00 p.m. will be followed by a Harry Bells concert, encompassing a “Keegan’s Greetings” event for the holidays. The Bells’ Latin, calypso and fusion-style arrangements have made the D.
C.-based calypso band’s sets another beloved Keegan tradition.
“We play songs written or performed by Harry Belafonte, and this time of year we also play arrangements of holiday classics,” says Matt Rippetoe, the eight-member band’s baritone saxophonist.
“Our friends at Keegan are always very welcoming and generous, and it’s such a loose, friendly environment.”
An Irish Carol will run until December 31.
