Grasp the magic of childhood in the adventure of Peter Pan at Broadway at the National. With special effects flying, sword fighting, pirate swagger, sprinkles of humor and pixie dust, the adventure will have you “hooked.”  The classic story is adapted by celebrated playwright Larissa FastHorse, directed by Emmy Award winner Lonny Price and choreographed by Lorin Latarro.

The energetic adventure begins when Peter Pan (Nolan Almeida) bounds through the window of the Darling residence with his fairy friend, Tinkerbell (a marvelous twinkling light). In the children’s room, he meets of Wendy (Hawa Kamara) who is smitten by Pan and thrilled to venture to the island of Never Never Land, bringing along her brothers John (Micah Turner Lee) and Michael (Reed Epley).

With a dazzle of fairy dust, the children are launched (hoisted on wires) toward the land of Lost Boys. Here, they meet the rascally Captain Hook (Garcia), who shines on stage with jaunty humor and a Scottish brogue.

Who wants to grow up when there is this much giggling, joyful screaming, and clapping in a production?

“Peter Pan” runs through April 21 at The National Theater, available at broadwayatthenational.com
