Chill out with Rosa Mexicano’s annual Ice Cream Festival
By Nevin Martell
Vanilla, chocolate and strawberry may be the most popular ice cream flavors, but they’re also the most boring. You deserve something more exciting, like piloncillo brown sugar ice cream dotted with carrot cake bits and smoked cashews or Mexican corn truffle ice cream swirled with cinnamon and chocolate shavings.
Luckily for you, these fascinating flavors aren’t just the product of our overactive imaginations – they actually exist.
Starting August 10 and running through September 4, Rosa Mexicano hosts its annual Ice Cream Festival, which features eight custom ice creams created by culinary director David Suarez and corporate pastry chef Jai Kendall. Spanning the spectrum from the sweet to the savory, these frozen finales are the perfect way to move beyond those dull Neapolitan flavors.
For diners who want to learn more about these cooling creations, the restaurant will be hosting a cooking class on Saturday, August 20 at 10 a.
m. Participants will be able to prepare one of the ice creams, so they can make it at home and never have to settle for plain old vanilla again.
