Washington National Opera’s “Midwinter Fiesta”: Oaxaca: Land of Magic and Color

Under the gracious patronage of His Excellency The Ambassador of Mexico and Mrs. Sarukhan, Washington National Opera presents its annual Midwinter event, this year the “Midwinter Fiesta,” Oaxaca: Land of Magic and Color. Organized by the Women’s Committee of WNO, co-chairs Alison Bibbee and Jessica Melugin will host this colorful evening celebrating Mexico through the ages. Get a taste of authentic Mexican life in the city which was declared a World Heritage Site for its vibrant culture, cuisine and architecture. Guests will be transported to Oaxaca to sample mouth-watering cocktails and an array of foods from fine restaurants; discover ancient cultures and modern traditions; peruse the indoor mercado of auction items; and dance the night away to spicy Latin rhythms.

The Midwinter Fiesta, Oaxaca: Land of Magic and Color, is sponsored by the Women’s Committee of Washington National Opera and serves an important role in raising funds for the company’s award-winning education and outreach programs. WNO provides comprehensive programs to the Washington, D.C. community, including performance training for children, teens, young adults and opera professionals.
