Sarukhan, Washington National Opera presents its annual Midwinter event, this year the “Midwinter Fiesta,” Oaxaca: Land of Magic and Color. Organized by the Women’s Committee of WNO, co-chairs Alison Bibbee and Jessica Melugin will host this colorful evening celebrating Mexico through the ages. Get a taste of authentic Mexican life in the city which was declared a World Heritage Site for its vibrant culture, cuisine and architecture. Guests will be transported to Oaxaca to sample mouth-watering cocktails and an array of foods from fine restaurants; discover ancient cultures and modern traditions; peruse the indoor mercado of auction items; and dance the night away to spicy Latin rhythms.
The Midwinter Fiesta, Oaxaca: Land of Magic and Color, is sponsored by the Women’s Committee of Washington National Opera and serves an important role in raising funds for the company’s award-winning education and outreach programs. WNO provides comprehensive programs to the Washington, D.C. community, including performance training for children, teens, young adults and opera professionals.
