Aurora Opera is pleased to announce that the 2010-2011 Family Opera will be Beautybeast by librettist/lyricist Amy Rosenberg Chartoff with music by W.
A. Mozart (The Magic Flute and Marriage of Figaro).
The story is that of the well-known tale of Beauty and the Beast. According to Chartoff, in this production, “A gentle, courageous girl goes to live in the palace of a hideous beast in order to help her father keep a promise.
The Beast helps Beauty to learn that outward appearances are not as important as kindness and a mystical transformation happens.
”
Based on the version by Jeanne-Marie La Prince de Beaumont.
Sung in English with English Supertitles projected.
